Find out the importance of getting your body ph right.

We can make this simple by comparing your human body to a swimming pool. Okay, okay, they are pretty different, but acidity and alkalinity are important to the health of both of these things. We are talking pH people.

If you have ever looked after a swimming pool, you will know that you need to get the balance of chemicals in the water just right, because if you don't...it's green water, black mould and yucky stuff that you definitely DO NOT WANT TO SWIM IN. Pool water requires the right pH level to remain just right for swimming. Right, we hear you... stop talking about pools, what has this got to do with me? Well, just like a swimming pool, if the pH in the human body isn't just right, bad stuff happens.

Acidic bodies are unhealthy bodies and if you consume a typical western diet, there is a pretty high chance your human body is acidic. When the body is acidic, it becomes an environment where sickness, bacteria, and yeast go on a party rampage, (note. "party rampage" is a super technical scientific description). The problem gets worse when the body is overly acidic because it will start to take minerals from vital organs and bones to neutralize the acid. Doesn't sound good does it? A highly acidic body will have dangerously low reserves of calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium which in turn will cause damage, you won't even notice it, until it reaches unhealthy levels, causing acidosis.

Okay, that's enough of the doom and gloom.

Let's talk about how we turn this ship around. It's actually easier than you think and the benefits will blow your socks off, (that is if you are wearing socks...if not then it will just amaze you).

Get started:

  • Decrease your acidic foods, increase your alkaline foods, (good bye ham and cheese toasted sandwich for lunch, hello salad).
  • Get moving, (yeah you've heard it before but seriously 20minutes of walking a day will even help)
  • Buy some pH test strips, (cheap as chips off eBay), and test regularly to see where you are at - ideally you want to be in the 6.5-7.5 range.
  • Drink - water with a squeeze of lemon juice is not only tastier but surprisingly alkaline, (who would've have thought!)
  • Here is the bad one - cut back on luxury stuff... yep, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, cake...chocolate...nooooooooo, but yes, those things that you know are not good, you're right, they really aren't.

 

So now you know there could be a hidden reason as to why you are struggling to lose weight or why you feel so tired even after a big sleep, what are you going to do about it? Now don't take this the wrong way because we totally love the colour green but don't let your body be like green pool water. Get out there and become a healthy human!
